Frequently asked questions

Getting started

How does SponBid work?

Clubs list sponsorship opportunities — shirt sponsorship, ground naming, matchday programme space, pitchside boards, and more — as timed auctions. Fans and businesses place bids, and the highest bid when the timer runs out wins the right to sponsor that opportunity.

Who can use SponBid?

Anyone can sign up as a club, an individual (fan), or a business. Clubs list opportunities; individuals and businesses bid on them.

Is it free to sign up?

Yes. Signing up, browsing, listing an opportunity, and bidding are all free. SponBid only takes a percentage fee from a winning bid once it's actually paid — see "Fees & payments" below.

Bidding & auctions

How do I place a bid?

Open any live opportunity and enter an amount at least as high as the minimum shown. Each new bid must clear the current highest bid by a small increment.

What happens if I get outbid?

You'll get a notification (and can see it in your notification feed) as soon as someone bids higher than you. You're welcome to bid again.

Can I withdraw a bid?

Yes — while the auction is still live, you can withdraw your bid from the auction page, with an optional note explaining why. Once withdrawn, you're no longer in the running for that opportunity.

Can a club cancel an auction?

Yes, a club can cancel one of its own live auctions at any time. A cancelled auction stops accepting bids immediately and shows a banner explaining it was cancelled.

I won an auction but the price seems too low/high — is that normal?

The winning price is simply whatever the highest bid was when the timer ran out. There's no reserve price beyond the minimum starting bid the club set.

What if the winning bidder doesn't pay?

The club can reassign the win to the next-highest eligible bidder from the auction page, as many times as needed.

Can I follow a club or watch an opportunity without bidding?

Yes. Follow a club from its profile to see its news and new listings in your feed. Watch a specific opportunity to get notified about bidding activity on it, even if you never bid yourself.

Fees & payments

How much does SponBid take?

SponBid keeps a small percentage of each winning bid once it's paid (currently 5%) — the rest goes straight to the club. There's no fee on unsuccessful bids or unsold listings.

How do I pay after winning?

Once an auction closes with you as the winner, a "Pay now" button appears on the auction page. Payment is handled securely through Stripe.

How long does it take for the club to receive the money?

Funds are transferred to the club through Stripe and typically arrive in their account within a few business days.

What currency am I charged in?

Prices are shown in GBP if you're browsing from the UK, and USD everywhere else. This is a display/charging choice only — there's no currency conversion applied; the numeric amount is the same either way.

Can I get a refund?

There's no automated refund flow. If something's gone wrong with a payment, contact us and we'll help sort it out — see our Contact & disputes page.

After you win

How do I get in touch with the club (or the winning bidder)?

Once payment is complete, the club's and the winning bidder's contact details (email and phone) become visible to each other on their profiles — nobody else ever sees them. The payment confirmation page also shows the club's contact details directly, so you can start the conversation right away.

Can I leave a review?

Yes, once a listing is paid for, both the club and the winning bidder can leave one review of each other.

Media packs

What is a media pack?

A one-time purchase that gives a club a dedicated, brand-coloured page separate from their profile — with photos, a video, downloadable PDFs, useful links, and a bio — designed to be shared with sponsors.

Where can I see a club's media pack?

From the club's profile page, if they've set one up.

Account & privacy

What happens to my phone number and email?

They're private by default. They only become visible to the other party in a specific sponsorship deal once that deal is paid for — see "How do I get in touch" above. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, from your profile edit page. If you're a club with live auctions, or a bidder with an active bid on a live auction, you'll need to cancel or withdraw it first. Deleting your account is permanent.

I forgot my password — what do I do?

Use the "Forgot your password?" link on the log-in page to get a reset link by email.
